How does E. Carter Enterprises stand out?
With more than thirty years of experience, I have performed with quite a few well known artists including many grammy-nominated celebrities. My performance and recording resume includes Freddie Jackson, Regina Belle, Mya, Syleena Johnson, Coolio, EU, Tony Terry, Angela Bofill, Alyson Williams, Nick Colionne, Mike Phillips, Gerald Veasley, Michael Lington, Bobby Lyle, Marcus Johnson, Bob Baldwin, Bobby Humphrey, Miles Jaye, Pamela Williams and many others. In addition, I have released eight solo recording projects and worked as the music director for overseas projects, television shows and more. My influences are: Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, George Benson, Peter White, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Page, Norman Brown and many other great guitarists.
Most of my sessions take place at my Greenbelt Maryland recording studio or online. I offer services that range from learning how to become a skillful musician in multiple genres to consultation on how to become a full-time musician as well as teaching techniques in lead guitar, rhythm guitar, finger-style performance, chord inversions, improvisation, jamming skills, site reading, ear training, music theory, scales & exercises, song writing, recording & production, guidance in equipment selection and more.
If you're seeking music lessons, your first session with me will usually include an instructional book at no additional cost. However beginners will need to have their own instrument and accessories (required for practice). I work with each individual based on his/her personal goals and believe that every client has a unique gift.
What do I enjoy about the work I do?
After many years in Corporate America, I am now a full-time musician who travels the world, produces national and local artists, runs an independent record label and coaches new clients on a regular basis. If you're in the Washington, D.C. area, you can hear and/or meet me in person at many of the local concerts I perform or on Sunday mornings in Silver Spring, MD at The Bridge Church located at Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20910, (10:30 AM - 11:45 AM).
What is my typical process for working with a new client?
Since every client has a unique talent, each individual's training is based on his/her personal goals.
Do I have a standard pricing system for my coaching sessions?
My regular rate is $40 per 30 minute session or $60 per 60 minute session. However I am currently offering introductory rates of $30 for 30 minutes and $50 for 60 minutes.
How did I get started teaching?
Several people that attended my live concerts asked if I offer private tutoring so I decided to offer private sessions in an effort to help musicians reach their personal goals.
What types of clients have I worked with?
I've worked with beginner, intermediate and advanced musicians in multiple genres but specialize in teaching beginners.
What's a recent event/venue that I'm fond of?
I recently performed Blues Alley for the sixth time as a solo artist and have performed there somewhere between 50 to 100 times as a sideman for celebrities as well.
What advice would I give a client looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise?
Becoming a fluent musician requires practice. Becoming a successful full-time musician takes dedication. Remember, the more you practice, the better you’ll get. Therefore, how quickly you excel is ultimately up to you.
What questions should clients think through before talking to trainers about their needs?
Determine what you actually want to accomplish from your sessions and make sure you are both on the same page before selecting a trainer.
What styles of music do I cover?
Current genres offered are Jazz, Christian, R&B, Reggae, Blues, Alternative and Pop. Clients can focus on one or two styles while developing the basic skills needed to play others as well.
