PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS

Renown guitarist “Earl Carter” is now offering guitar lessons in the DC/MD/VA area. With more than thirty years of experience, he has performed with quite a few well known artists including many grammy-nominated celebrities. His performance and recording resume includes Freddie Jackson, Regina Belle, Coolio, EU, Tony Terry, Angela Bofill, Alyson Williams, Nick Colionne, Mike Phillips, Gerald Veasley, Michael Lington, Bobby Lyle, Marcus Johnson, Bob Baldwin, Bobby Humphrey, Miles Jaye, Pamela Williams and many others. In addition, he has released four solo recording projects and worked as the music director for live and televised house bands. Earl has been teaching and running a recording studio for quite some time. However his 300+ live performances per year has limited the amount of students he‘s been able to take on. He has now decided to devote more time to teaching others and sharing the knowledge that has enabled him to succeed as a professional full-time musician. Now you and/or your child can learn from one of the hardest working musicians in the business!

Here are the answers to a few frequently asked questions:

What’s his method of teaching?

Earl teaches each individual based on his/her personal goals and believes that every student has a unique talent. Basic technique, music theory, chord inversions, scales, improv, site reading and ear training are offered as part of the learning process.

What styles of music are covered?

He is currently a member of ten active bands covering six genres of music including jazz, Christian, R&B, alternative, reggae and pop. You or your child can focus on one or two styles while learning the basics needed to play most styles.

Who does he teach?

He specializes in teaching beginners however also works with intermediate level musicians and provides coaching for advanced level players. Ages eight years old to adult.

Where does he teach?

Earl offers lessons at his Greenbelt, MD recording studio and/or will come to your home.

What are his rates?

His rates are $50 to $65 per one hour lesson (depending on travel distance). Payments can be made in advance or at each session and/or by using the PayPal link on the front page of this website.

What materials are provided?

An instructional book and complimentary music CD are provided at no additional cost.

What materials are not provided?

The student will need to have his/her own instrument and accessories (required for practice)

Is he a patient teacher?

Earl is extremely patient and easy to follow. Sessions are fun and fulfilling.

How long before I’m a competent player?

Becoming a good player requires practice. The more you practice - the better you’ll get. Therefore, how fast each individual excels is up to the student.
